Telehealth online art therapy

I offer online art therapy sessions where clients can experience creative engagement, therapeutic support and guidance. The digital platform allows for the possibility to receive mental health care, as you would in our in-person office sessions, but remotely. These online sessions can be a very effective option when in-person office visits are not possible.

Telehealth with adults

I understand that finding time to prioritize your own health and well being can often be a struggle. However, with virtual therapy sessions, we can meet from where you are with flexible scheduling. For example, If you are a parent, the most convenient time for you may be when your children are at school (or taking a nap). Whether you have a busy work schedule, are a student with a heavy course load, or someone who may need to travel frequently- virtual therapy sessions may provide you with the option to set aside that essential time for yourself in a way that fits into your demanding schedule.

Telehealth with Children

Children that are given the opportunity to work online with a therapist are able to share parts of themselves and their environment which they are unable to do through in-office visits. Often, they are having their sessions in a comfortable familiar space such as their bedroom. They are surrounded by familiar toys and art supplies. They can share personal experiences through photos and items of their choosing all while in a familiar setting. This can allow for a therapist to connect with the child and build trust in a very unique way. I am able to engage children with many additional techniques such as screen sharing, joint art activities and games.

A few helpful tips to prepare for an art therapy telehealth session with children

1. Set your child up in a space where they have privacy and can speak freely.
2. Computers and ipads are optimal choices for viewing.
3. Have a few art supplies, toys or games available for the session. Have a conversation with your child about what they would like to share. I will also inform you ahead of time if we are working on a material specific project. Every effort is made to use household items and tools that are accessible to families.
4. I offer the option for an adult to join their child in the session, or to set up a follow-up call after if this feels more appropriate. Parent involvement is encouraged.
